Materials Accepted

John Zubick Limited is a buyer and processor of scrap metals from industrial, residential and rural sources including:

We operate in full compliance with Ontario’s Toxic Reduction Act.

We are certified under the Canada/U.S. Joint Certification Program to receive whole goods and scrap material covered under Controlled Goods statutes.

We reserve the right to refuse any material or customer at management’s discretion.

We can only accept the following items according to special terms below:

  • Drums: lids removed, clean, dry, no hazardous residues.
  • Large tanks: clean and dry, valves removed (manholes open, ready for inspection). Allowances will be made for any dirt, mud or garbage.
  • Refrigeration equipment must be certified empty of Freon.
  • Vehicles with tires: accepted with a deduction of weight for each tire which covers the weight of and the disposal cost of the tires.

*A service fee of $10.00 is charged for each vehicle with a fuel tank still attached.


Materials Not Accepted Under Any Terms

We do not accept the following goods or materials for disposal or recycling:

  • Radioactive material.
  • Sealed containers.
  • Hazardous wastes as defined under Ontario Regulation 347 (R.R.O. 1990).
  • Vehicles with a propane or natural gas tanks still attached.
  • Any material made from or contaminated by asbestos.
  • Transformers which still contain oil.
  • Capacitors on electric motors and switch-gear which are not identified as non-PCB.
  • Any whole refrigeration equipment that has not been certified empty of Freon. This includes refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and de-humidifiers.
  • Hazardous metal dust (i.e. lead dust, cadmium dust).
  • Selenium (photocopier roller drums).
  • Magnesium turnings.
  • Excessive amounts of garbage.
  • Oil cooled transformers that once contained PCBs.
  • Ballast capacitors from lighting fixtures which are not clearly identified as non-PCB.
  • Any items originating, or appear to have originated, from a grave site, monument or public property. Zubicks will require a proof of ownership for any items in question.
  • Temperature gauges, thermostats, manometer switches or any other materials that contain mercury.
  • Metal that is excessively dirty or covered with soil.
  • Metal that is covered with excessive concrete.
